Fans of American music legend Glen Campbell were heartbroken when the star was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease five years ago. His children and his wife, Kim Campbell, have been by his side ever since then, even though he has recently been moved into a full-time care facility as his conditioned has worsened.
Kim is determined to help other families by writing www.careliving.org, a blog and lifestyle guide for those caring for a loved one. It's tagline is "Caring For Yourself While Caring For Others." That's also the theme of a talk she'll give in Charlotte on Sept. 29 during "Women & Alzheimer's: A Symposium On The Impact Of The Disease As Caregiver And Patient" from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Myers Park Methodist Church, 501 Queens Road.
Tickets are $50. To register, call Memory Center Charlotte, one of the event's sponsors, at 704-577-3186. For more details, click here.
