Midwood Maynia Home & Garden Tour: Step inside eight of the most beautiful homes and gardens in the historic Plaza Midwood neighborhood during the annual Midwood Maynia celebration that also includes music, food and a parade. The Candlelight Home & Garden Tour is from 6 to 8 p.m. May 5. The Midwood Maynia Festival is May 6 and the Home & Garden Tour continues that day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Home Tour tickets are $20 in advance; $25 the day of. Beer, Bourbon & BBQ Festival: Go hog wild during this festival that features...you guessed it...beer, bourbon and barbecue along with music, a barbecue competition and bacon tastings. Held May 13 at Symphony Park at SouthPark mall, there are two sessions; A VIP session from noon to 6 p.m. and a regular session from 2 to 6 p.m. VIP tickets are $69 in advance, $77 on site (only a limited number of tickets are available). Inaugural Pink Bow Gala: Madelyn's Fund founders Rachel Lee and her husband, Andy, a Carolina Panthers player, are hosting this first-time event in honor of their late daughter, Madelyn. Proceeds go to Neonatal Intensive Care Unit patients and their families including those who experience the trauma of infant loss.
