Chinese Lantern Festival: View more than 800 illuminated plants, animals and other objects created in the ancient art of lantern making at this special exhibit on view daily starting at 5:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. from Sept. 7 through Oct. 29. Made of silk and paper, some of the lanterns of animals, flora and fauna are life-size and even larger-than-life. Others are made of small glass medicine bottles filled with colored liquid that glimmer and are arranged in the shape of dragons, peacocks, and giant pearls. Mad About Modern Home Tour: Tour seven mid-century modern homes in the SouthPark neighborhood during this sixth annual tour presented by Charlotte Museum of History.
