TIME TO EXFOLIATE

During the summer months it's best to keep away from deep facial exfoliation because the intense sun means skin is extra sensitive. But the Fall and Winter are the perfect seasons to up your exfoliation with a nighttime peel once a week after thoroughly cleaning your face.

Three to try: L'Oreal Paris RevitaLift Bright Reveal Brightening Peel Pads (contains 30 pads), $19.99; Kiehl's Dermatologist Solutions Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate, $54; and Garnier SkinActive Clearly Brighter Overnight Leave-on Peel, $16.99.

Each is gentle enough to use daily but we think once a week is plenty. Use them and wake up the next morning with a softer, brighter and more even skin tone. Plus fine surface wrinkles are less visible. One note of caution: Avoid the eye area. And newly revealed skin needs extra protection from the sun's rays so be sure to wear sunscreen the next day. But you were doing that already, right?

FALL FOR THESE NAIL COLORS

Inspired by the colorful change in leaves the Autumn brings, we love to change our nail polish colors. This season we've fallen for three hues that were picked by Redbook magazine Beauty Editors as their favorites. Now we love them too, and they look good with every skin tone.

They're all from the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Nail Color line, which means it only takes one coat to achieve the perfect color and it dries in 60 seconds. Try Cherry Fast (a deep fuchsia), Plummet (a rich plum) and Navy Fleet (a teal blue). $4.99 each.
